The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) and the World Conservation Union (IUCN) are currently working together in order to inform others about conservation. In 2005, they published "Building a Future for Wildlife: The World Zoo and Aquarium Conservation Strategy". This emphasises the need for collabrative conservation (such as zoos working together and other conservation organizations). The European Council Zoo Directive tells zoos what they need to do in order to conserve certain species. The Secretary of State's Standards of Modern Zoo Practice, made by the British government, states that British zoos must support conservation. One example of zoos collaborating is the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA). Each year they raise awareness and funds for particular habitats or species.
